.
A note about “taking actions before too late” reminded me of a Chinese idiom:
.
“子欲養而親不待“ (Pronunciation: zǐ yù yǎng ér qīn bú dài).
.
It means: (Adult) children feel that they should have shown their love and gratitude more to, or taken better care of, their parents, but find it too late.
This is often expressed at a parent’s funeral, or after their passing.
A heavy sentiment, yet tells us a deep truth:
Time does not wait for us!
And we don’t want to miss the precious chances for something so important!!
.
It is applicable to situations other than such extreme cases too.
And to any others than parents we love or are grateful to as well.
.
.
Oftentimes, it is not that we don’t have love and gratitude in our heart.
It is that we do not express them enough, through words or actions.
Part of it may be because, amidst our busy lives in a fast-tempo society, we put them at the back of our mind, thinking there are always chances….
But we might not have the chance if we delay!
.
And even if later might not be too late, we still wouldn’t want to delay.
We may miss many chances we could warm hearts and enhance relationships, and even enhance our own well-being and happiness.
Research showed that expressing love and gratitude by itself is beneficial to both the one expressing it and the one receiving it.
And prompt expressions of love and gratitude is the most effective in enhancing well-being, relationships, and mental health by leveraging emotional immediacy.
So, show your love and gratitude anytime, but best timely!
Now go ahead and take action on that!
And spread the word for spreading love and gratitude!
